Womens Devotionals on Love with Amanda Sowards

• Love • What is Love? •

Kneeling down to wash someone else's feet is one of the most humbling expressions of love. Just like washing dirt covered feet; love isn't always pretty. It may not always be fun. It may be difficult. It may be overwhelming and hard at time.

Jesus teaches us that washing someone else's feet is a true display of selfless service of pure love. When you think about it, the idea of washing someone else's feet may seem gross, awkward, uncomfortable and dirty. The act of it is not always fun or easy, but the experience of displaying this type of humbling love and service trumps any of those immediate anxious expectations or feelings of uncertainty.

This is the most authentic example and symbolization of God's unconditional love for us. We are messy, dirty, imperfect & flawed. God already knows we are a hot mess. He is just waiting for us to come to Him, be still & let him clean us of our sins.

We already know that the children's feet will be dirty before we kneel down to wash them & provide them with new shoes; just as God already knows about our inevitable messy sins & is waiting to wash us clean with grace & eternal life.

I am humbled & overwhelmed at how something so messy - that strips us from our human comfort zones - exposes our insecurities & breaks down our pride; is truly something so special that is equivalent to an indescribable supernatural type of love. •••

Love is patient. Love is kind. Love does not envy. Love does not boast. Love is not proud. Love is not rude. Love is not self-seeking. Love is not easily angered. Love keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil. Love rejoices with the truth. Love always protects. Love always trust. Love always hopes Love always perseveres Love never fails.
