What being a Proverbs 31 Woman really means

Amanda Sowards Humanitarian on What it means to be a Proverbs 31 Woman

Many women become so consumed with whats popular or trendy, that they don't even know who they are anymore. It's not all our fault. The pressures we put on ourselves as women today, have failed us as a whole. For the first time in history, we are a generation that can do anything! Literally anything! We so often become consumed or obsessed with a certain coveted position in society; that we forget our own identity in the process. Real talks, it's time to turn off the nonsense and start getting real with who you are, not the image you want others to think you are. This photo was inspired by Proverbs 31. Something I never studied or cared for honestly. It was a nice concept, but I'm painfully independent... I always thought, this ideal just wasn't for me. I'm going to be no mans servant.... I started to dig deeper. These women may have been beautiful physically by the standards of their time, yet I think what made these women go down in the history books as “beautiful” was because they were close to God, they lived virtuous lives, they knew who they were and what their missions were on earth. That is a type of beauty that can’t be bought at the store or the doctor’s office and therefore is incomparable. In the Ancient biblical ideal of womanhood, we do not find the stereotyped housewife occupied with dirty dishes and laundry, her daily life dictated by the demands of her husband & her children. Nor do we find a hardened, overly ambitious career woman who leaves her family to fend for themselves. What we find is a strong, dignified, multi-talented, caring woman who is an individual in her own right But with all her responsibilities, first and foremost, she looks to God. Her primary concern is God’s will in her life. She is a woman after God’s own heart. Im proud and honored to serve by these incredible woman who truly embody what a Proverbs 31 woman is all about.
